Eigenvalues and invariants of tensors
A tensor is represented by a supermatrix under a co-ordinate system. In this paper, we define E-eigenvalues and E-eigenvectors for tensors and supermatrices. By the resultant theory, we define the E-characteristic polynomial of a tensor. An E-eigenvalue of a tensor is a root of the E-characteristic polynomial. In the regular case, a complex number is an E-eigenvalue if and only if it is a root ...
متن کاملThe Sign-Real Spectral Radius for Real Tensors
In this paper a new quantity for real tensors, the sign-real spectral radius, is defined and investigated. Various characterizations, bounds and some properties are derived. In certain aspects our quantity shows similar behavior to the spectral radius of a nonnegative tensor. In fact, we generalize the Perron Frobenius theorem for nonnegative tensors to the class of real tensors.
متن کاملGroup Comparison of Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors of Diffusion Tensors
Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) data differ from most medical images in that values at each voxel are not scalars, but 3×3 symmetric positive definite matrices called diffusion tensors (DTs). The anatomic characteristics of the tissue at each voxel are reflected by the DT eigenvalues and eigenvectors. In this article we consider the problem of testing whether the means of two groups of DT images...
متن کاملH-eigenvalues of Laplacian and Signless Laplacian Tensors
We propose a simple and natural definition for the Laplacian and the signless Laplacian tensors of a uniform hypergraph. We study their H-eigenvalues, i.e., H-eigenvalues with nonnegative H-eigenvectors, and H-eigenvalues, i.e., H-eigenvalues with positive H-eigenvectors. We show that each of the Laplacian tensor, the signless Laplacian tensor, and the adjacency tensor has at most one H-eigenva...
متن کاملSingular Values and Eigenvalues of Tensors: A Variational Approach
We propose a theory of eigenvalues, eigenvectors, singular values, and singular vectors for tensors based on a constrained variational approach much like the Rayleigh quotient for symmetric matrix eigenvalues. These notions are particularly useful in generalizing certain areas where the spectral theory of matrices has traditionally played an important role. For illustration, we will discuss a m...
